AAA Pacific Coast League: Las Vegas

AA Eastern League: Binghamton 4/8/0 @ New Hampshire 9/15/2

Tyler Pill was atrocious today, getting crushed for 7 runs on 10 hits (including a double, triple and homer) and a walk in 4.2 innings, he fell to 0-2. Jack Leathersich did more Leathersich things, 48 pitches, 28 strikes, a walk and 4 Ks in 2.1 innings. Dominating AA with a 5 bb/9 doesn’t do him any good whatsoever, and until he’s in AAA, there’s nothing he will learn. Offensively, Kevin Plawecki had Binghamton’s lone multi hit game.

A+ Florida State League: St. Lucie 5/9/0 vs Fort Myers 4/8/0

After a Mets bullpen meltdown in the 8th (Beck Wheeler got touched up for 3 runs on 2 hits and a walk (2 out 3 run HR)), the Mets put up single runs in the bottom of the 8th to tie, and bottom of the 10th to win, with Brandon Nimmo front and center in both rallies. Nimmo singled behind Dilson Herrera in the 8th to set up Aderlin Rodriguez’ RBI groundout 2 batters later, and then in the 10th, he singled and scored on Camden Maron’s RBI single to win it for St. Lucie, 5-4. Nimmo finished 3 for 5 with 3 singles and a strikeout, Herrera finished

Wheeler’s rough outing spoiled a terrific start from Michael Fulmer, who fired 7 brilliant innings, scattering a run on 5 hits (a solo homer) with 5 strikeouts. Paul Sewald worked 2 scoreless innings to pick up the win.

Savannah native John Gant fired a second straight strong outing, giving up 3 runs on 9 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings, striking out 6 and generating 11 of his 12 non-K outs via the ground. Tim Peterson fired 2 scoreless for the save. Offensively, Victor Cruzado had a big game with 3 singles and 2 runs scored.
