AA Eastern League: Binghamton 4/4/2 vs Portland 7/13/0

Luis Mateo’s AA cameo might end up being nothing short of an unmitigated disaster, as the righty left after 3 plus innings due to a forearm/elbow injury (which is USUALLY codeword for TJS, but not always). In his 3 innings, he got crushed for 4 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks, he also balked twice. The Mets offense came to life late, but it was too little after Portland had built a 5-0 lead.

A+ Florida State League: St. Lucie 6/6/1 vs Charlotte 3/6/2

St. Lucie was being no hit thru 5, and then exploded for a 6 run 6th to turn a 3-0 deficit into a 6-3 lead and eventual victory. Dustin Lawley had a 2 run homer as part of the scoring. Gilbert Gomez had 2 more hits (though, he’s hitting for literally no power). Domingo Tapia started off slowly, giving up runs in each of his first three innings, but he then righted the ship, ending up with 6 solid innings, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits while striking out 8. Pedro Feliciano made the first of his upcoming 200 appearances for the Mets organization, tossing a scoreless 7th.
