AAA Pacific Coast League: Las Vegas

Montero’s having a good outing through 4, getting good defense from his outfield. Kirk Nieuwenhuis with several good catcher, threw out a runner at the plate, and is 2 for 2 (2 singles). Check back tomorrow for the recap for this game.

Rafael Montero’s final line: 6 innings, 4 hits, 5 Ks, 79 pitches, 55 strikes. 3:5:5. GREAT outing to open his 2014 season.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis had 4 hits including a homer, and also made several outstanding plays in LF. Book the following: Once the ridiculously stupid infatuation with EYJr ends (hopefully really soon), Kirk Nieuwenhuis will be back in the majors.

Zach Lutz had the big blow, a grand slam to ice the game. Cesar Puello was 0 for 4 with 3 strikeouts, at least 2 of them on breaking pitches #thatswhyhesinAAA.

AA Eastern League: Binghamton 1/4/1 vs Akron 7/8/1

Darin Gorski battled command issues tonight, lasting just 2 outs into the 4th, walking 3 and striking out a pair, while throwing just 45 of 85 pitches for strikes. The Mets bullpen was no better, with 4 relievers combining to walk 8 in 5.1 innings, it was an altogether disasterous night of pitching in Binghmaton. Not to be outdone, the Mets offense was equally horrible, with just 4 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings, mustering just one run while going 0 for 6 with RISP and leaving 5 on base. Darrell Ceciliani tripled, walked and scored the lone BMet run.
