AA Eastern League: Binghamton (3-0) 7/14/0 @ Akron 5/7/1

The Mets offense sprang to life today, hammering out 14 hits in a 7-5 win, with six players notching multi-hit games, led by leadoff man’s Alonzo Harris’ 2. The Mets built an early 5-0 lead behind an outstanding outing from Logan Verrett, only to see Verrett falter in the 7th, and the Aeros mount a comeback. 2 in the 8th sealed the deal, with the Mets bullpen stablizing the game. Adrian Rosario made things interesting again by giving up a pair in the 9th, but no harm, no foul. Verrett went 6 plus, allowing 4 runs and 3 runs (all in the 7th). Harris, Darrell Ceciliani, NP Josh Rodriguez, Cory Vaughn, NP Danny Muno, and Blake Forsythe all had multi hit games. JRod and Forsythe had 3 hit games.

Steven Matz had a decent outing tonight, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits with 6 strikeouts in 4+ innings, he got a ND. Julian Hilario pitched a scoreless inning of relief. Hilario, 22 1/2, was a starter with Brooklyn last year, and threw 55.2 innings, a career high, so I’d imagine he’s only starting off in the pen, and will be transitioned to the rotation in due time. Offensively, Kevin Plawecki and Jeff Glenn had multi hit games.
