AA Eastern League: Binghamton 5/14/1 vs Akron 2/10/2

Rafael Montero’s been slightly less than dominant in his last 3 outings – not that he’s been BAD, just slightly off. In his last 3 starts, he’s gone 19 innings, allowing 21 hits and 15 runs (12 earned), while walking just 3 and striking out 19. 10 of those runs, 7 earned, came in one start. Tonight, he gave up 8 hits, but no walks, so only 2 runs, while striking out 6 in 6 innings for his 4th win of the season. Jeffrey Walters pitches a scoreless, hitless 9th for his 10th save. Offensively, Allan Dykstra, Cory Vaughn, and Cesar Puello had multi hit games, Puello homered for the 5th time this season.

Hansel Robles had a very wild, very poor outing, giving up 2 runs, but allowing 4 hits and 4 walks in 4 innings, he took a ND. On the plus side, he did strike out 5 in those 4 innings. Chasen Bradford took a 4-2 lead and wrecked it, giving up 4 runs in his one inning of work to take the loss. Offensively, Aderlin Rodriguez and Travis Taijeron had multi hit games. Taijeron continues his absolutely torrid stretch, he’s now hitting .371/.511/.800/1.311 in May, after a first two weeks of his season.

Luis Cessa, who had walked just 2 in his previous 24.1 innings, walked 4 in his first 3 innings tonight. Overall, he walked just those 4 in 6 innings, but gave up 3 runs on 5 hits (including 2 homers) in 6 innings, he took a ND. Julian Hilario gave up 2 runs on 2 hits and a walk in 2 innings to take the loss. Offensively, the College Bash Brothers combined to go 0 for 9.
