Soooo, sorry for missing last night’s report. I was just getting over the last of a cold that knocked me flat on my ass, and I asked David to do it (as the 23rd), and he said yes, but… then he STARTED to get sick during the night, so… obviously didn’t want to. Luckily, I’m now feeling better :)

AA Eastern League: Binghamton 9/14/2 vs Portland 10/11/1

Cory Mazzoni got owned, giving up 5 runs in the first 2 innings, and the Mets tied it up at 8, but ultimately fell 10-9 after Jeffrey Walters gave up 2 runs in the top of the 9th. Walters, who was practically perfect over his first 15.2 innings this season, has gotten torched for 6 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks in his last 2.2 innings.

Offensively, Cesar Puello homered, his only hit of the night. Allan Dykstra, Blake Forsythe and Wilfredo Tovar all had multi hit games. Tovar’s been hitting better in May, but it’s been the most empty batting average I’ve literally ever seen anyone have. Forsythe’s multi hit game hopefully snapped his long slump, he’d been mired in a 2 for 24 skid.

3. rf Cesar Puello 1 for 5, 2 runs, HR (7), RBI (28), K, .300, HBP

A+ Florida State League: St. Lucie 6/12/2 vs Bradentin 8/7/1

Domingo Tapia decided to be charitable again tonight, and to be fair, it had been 7 weeks since he’d last held a walkathon to benefit opposing batters, so… logically, another one was appropriate. Tonight, he walked 4 in 0.1 innings, leading to 6 runs on 2 hits and a loss. In his two walkathons to benefit the FSL, he’s walked 8 in an inning of work and allowed 9 runs on 3 hits. Very charitable of Mr. Tapia, indeed.

Offensively, Matt Reynolds had a perfect game with 2 singles and 3 walks, and Aderlin Rodriguez continued his torrid May with 3 more hits and his 37th RBI of the season. Travis Taijeron also had 2 hits, pushing his average back to .280 after a brief slump.

1. 2b TJ Rivera 1 for 5, .290
2. ss Matt Reynolds 2 for 2, run, RBI (24), 3 BBs, .253

A South Atlantic League: Savannah 6/11/3 vs Augusta 5/10/1

Matt Koch got crushed for 5 runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings, and managed to survive long enough for his offense to get him 6, and a cheap win, his 3rd of the season. Jayce Boyd and Kevin Plawecki had multi hit games.
