AA Eastern League: Binghamton 1/4/0, Erie 0/6/1

Zack. Wheeler. Was. The. Entire. Story. He fired a complete game 6 hit shutout, striking out 7 and walking just 1 to pick up his 9th win of the season, and in all likelihood, punch his ticket to Buffalo. After getting his brains beaten in over back to back starts (13.2 ip, 17 h, 12/11 r/er, 6/9 bb/k, 1-1, 7.24 era), he’s responded with arguably his two best starts of the season, he’s allowed just a run on 12 hits in 16.1 innings, with a 1/13 BB/K over that span, with a 2-0 record and a 0.55 era. Without those two starts, he would be 8-3 with a 1.64 era in 14 starts, spanning 88 innings (6.1 ip/gs) with a 3.06 bb/9 and a 8.8 k/9, and a 0.97 WHIP. In short, promote this beast to Buffalo.

A- New York Penn League: Brooklyn 6/8/0, State Colleghe 3/5/2

I don’t do recaps for the short season teams, but Luis Mateo… man. He was flat out dominant again, allowing nothing on a hit and walk in 7 innings, while striking out 8. It’s probably time to get him to St. Lucie, he’s obliterating the NYPL. Brandon Nimmo had his second straight multi hit game, he’s 5 for his last 7 to raise his average to .230.
