Cory Mazzoni had a good, but limited outing, throwing 66 pitches over 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits with 4 strikeouts. The bullpen got rocked for 6 hits and 5 runs (4 earned) to put the game out of reach. Offensively, Juan Lagares and Allan Dykstra had multi hit games. Lagares is hitting .342/.367/.474/.841 in July.

A+ Florida State League: St. Lucie 7/12/3, Brevard County 9/9/1

For a second straight outing, Chase Huchingson couldn’t make it out of the first inning, and for a second straight outing, Kyle Allen did a phenominal job in long relief, bailing Huch out of a bases loaded mess. Allen allowed 3 runs in the 3rd inning (2 earned), but that was all he allowed in 4.1 innings, keeping the Mets somewhat within striking distance. For their part, the offense stepped up and torched top prospect Jed Bradley to the tune of 11 hits and 7 runs in 4.2 innings, but could not get over the hump, eventually falling 9 to 7. Huch has been pitching horribly in his last few outings, probably due to innings count. He should probably be swapped with Allen at this point, so they can more carefully manage his innings. Offensive performers include 3 hits from Alonzo Harris, and multi hit games from Steroid Boy (Danny Muno) and Blake Forsythe.
