AAA International League: Buffalo 4/7/0, Louisville 5/11/0

Collin McHugh had his best AAA outing to date, scattering 5 hits over 6.2 innings, he took a tough ND after Fernando Cabrera sucked it up hardcore in the 8th inning. Still, after a VERY rough 3 start introduction to AAA, McHugh has been money since. In 5 starts in July, McHugh is 1-1 with a 2.37 era. Offensively,

AA Eastern League: Binghamton 2/4/1, New Britain 11/18/1

Zack Wheeler got bombed again, but his stuff is still there, he’s likely hitting a wall, considering he’s 6 or so innings away from his career high. Frank Francisco was horrid in relief on rehab. Offensively, nothing much happened. Jefry Marte had a hit, RBI and walk.

A+ Florida State League: St. Lucie 6/12/5, Bradenton 5/5/1

Kyle Allen’s first start since April went very well, if it wasn’t for his defense totally screwing him, making 4 errors while he was in the game. Overall, he gave up 3 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits in 5 innings, for a ND. Taylor Whitenton blew the save by allowing a pair in the 8th, and then the Mets rallied for single runs in the 8th and 9th to win it, with Jack Leathersich working a scoreless top half of the 9th for his first FSL win. Offensively, Alonzo Harris, TJ Rivera and Aderlin Rodriguez had multi hit games.

1. cf Alonzo Harris 3 for 5, run, .279, SB (26), CS (8)
2. ss TJ Rivera 2 for 4, K, .286

Kyle Allen 5 IP, 3 H, 3/1 R/ER, 1/4 BB/K, HR, 4.09 era, 6:4:4 (last 3 outings: 12.2 ip, 7 h, 6/3 r/er, hr, 2/8 bb/k) – had a four game stretch in which he went 8.2 ip, 17 h, 10 er, 2 hr, 3/4 bb/k; else he’s 35.1 ip, 30 h, 15/10 r/er, 2 hr, 5/27 bb/k this season. I’d promote him and give him the rest of the season to sink or swim, tbh.

Chase Huchingson 2 IP, 2 Ks, 4.63 era, 1:2:2
Taylor Whitenton IP, H, 2 ER, 3 BBs, 2.42 era, BS (3), 1:1:0

A South Atlantic League: Savannah 6/11/0, Kannapolis 2/11/2

Michael Fulmer had a dominant outing, scattering 3 hits over 5 innings for his 6th win of the season. I’ve held off until now, but I think it is now time to promote Fulmer to St. Lucie. He’s got nothing left to learn/do in the Sally League. Offensively, Gilbert Gomez continued his torrid stretch with a hit and 2 walks, Dustin Lawley had 2 more hits, and Cole Frenzel had a perfect game, with 3 hits (2 doubles) and a walk.

1. ss Yucarybert De La Cruz 0 for 5, 2 Ks, .189
